Working in conjunction with ITEC we offer an NVQ Level 2 certificate for The Introduction to Wig Making.

The Cost is just £600 + VAT for the full Certificate, which includes a full wig making and weaving kit, or £150 + VAT per individual unit, with the wig making and weaving at a cost of £250 + VAT, (includes equipment).

The course takes 6 Students per course, so that there is plenty of individual attention.

The certificate is comprised of 5 individual units that can be taken altogether, or individually to suit your particular area of interest.

Unit 590 The History of Postiche

This unit covers the history of Postiche from the Eighteenth Century to the present day, it also details the tools and equipment used in Wigmaking, different types of wigs and hairpieces, along with the Structure of hair and different hair types used in wig making.

Unit 591 Preparation of Raw Hair

This unit covers the preparation of Raw Hair, ready for use in Wig Making, washing the hair, drawing the hair into lengths, tying into bundles and hackling the hair are all covered.

Unit 592 Single Knotting

This unit covers everything from placing the hair into the drawing mat, drawing hair, forming the turnover and single knotting in detail.  Each Student will have their own wig block to work on and will have plenty of opportunity to practice this skill.

Unit 593 Weaving a 2 String Fly and Afro Fly

This unit covers how to set up a 2 String Weaving Frame, weaving a conventional 2 String Weft and also weaving an Afro Weft for use in the production of Afro hair pieces and wigs.

Unit 594 The Commercial Influences in Wigmaking

This unit covers everything that you need to consider if you want to offer a wig service, learn the difference between wefts and mono, hand tied and machine made.

Set up a fabulous retail display, understand the aftercare, have a sensible stock and most importantly learn how to market and where to market.
